Presidential Office Building總統府
This renaissance-style building has been the highest seat of government in Taiwan for over a century, first as the office of the governor general's office during the Japanese colonial period, and after 1949 as Taiwan's "White House." National festivals are hosted here.

The Presidential Office Building is located on Chongqing S. Road and facing Ketagalan Boulevard. On the back it is Bo-ai Road, on the left it is Baoqing Road, and on the right it is Guiyang Street. The Presidential Building is close to Taipei Main Station and Ximending.

The building was built during Japanese colonization period. It was the governor's mansion at that time. During the ending period of World War II, the building was seriously damaged due to bombing. After Taiwan was reclaimed by R.O.C., the building was re-constructed in 1946. The building was re-named as "Jieshou Building" in celebration of the 60th birthday of former president Mr. Chiang Kai-shek. The building has been used as the presidential mansion after the central government of R.O.C. was re-instated in Taiwan.
CKS Memorial Hall中正紀念堂
This memorial hall is home to several classical Chinese buildings, including the stately memorial itself as well as the National Concert Hall and National Theater. Another highlight is the hourly honor guard display. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is located in the heart of Taipei City. The area is 250,000 square meters and it is the attraction most visited by foreign tourists.

Outside the gate of Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, there are poles carrying the sign of true rightness. The architecture of Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is inspired by Tientam in Beijing. The four sides of the structure are similar to those of the pyramids in Egypt. The material is white marble. The roofs are decorated with deep-blue glass as part of the reflection of blue sky and bright sun. It adds a touch of grandeur. The garden is planted with red flowers. As a whole, the colors of blue, white and red express the National Flag and the spirit of freedom, equality and brotherhood.
National Palace Museum故宮博物院
The National Palace Museum boasts the world's largest and most impressive collection of Chinese art and artifacts, dating back more than 7,000 years. The full collection comprises over 650,000 items, including calligraphy, paintings, jade, bronze, silk and curio pieces.
Xitou Nature Education Area溪頭風景區
1. Topography
The Xitou Forest Recreational Area is one of the concave valleys surrounded by mountains in three sides. The highest mountain is Lingtou Mountain in the south with sea level 2,025m. It extends in north to Fenghuang Mountain Range to form the east mountain boundary of this area. It extends in west to Neishu and mountain range, which extends to north forming the south and west mountain boundaries in this area. The streams flow between the mountain range and the exit is in the north. The sea level of major area is 800-2000m.

2. Geology
The Fenghuang Mountain is composed of thick sandstone and is the barrier in the east of Xitou. The thick sandstone of Fenghuang Mountain is on the precipice of the mountain and it is the essential factor for fallen of huge rocks. The property of this sandstone is the deposition from shallow sea five million years ago. Nowadays, it is the mountain with sea level over 1000m. Seas change into mulberry fields and mulberry fields into seas.

3. Climate
According to the data from Xitou observation station, the average temperature of the month of Xitou is 11.0 - 28℃, and the average annual temperature is 16.6℃. The average annual rainfall is 2635.18mm. According to the Thornthwaite climate classification, it belongs to AB'ra' type, which means warm and humid weather. The rainfall is sufficient in the whole year. The effective temperature does not focus in summer and is suitable for compatriots to stay at summer resort.
Sun Moon Lake日月潭
The Sun Moon Lake, located in the middle of Taiwan, with an elevation of 748 meters above sea level, is the only natural big lake in Taiwan. The southern part of Lalu Island is shaped like a new moon, and the northern part is shaped like a sun; hence the name Sun Moon Lake. Scenic resources

The most famous sights around Sun Moon Lake are the Itashao, Lalu Island, the Xuanzang Temple, the Ci-en Pagoda, and the Wenwu Temple and so on. The natural forests bordering these roads are good places for bird watching. There are a lot of birds that live on the mid-elevation, such as the Grey-cheeked Fulvetta, Grap-throated Minivet, Formosan Yuhina, Gray Tree Pie, Bamboo Partridge, Chinese Bulbul, Muller's Barbet, and the Black Bulbul. Colonies of Black-crowned Night herons and Egrettagarzettas , and birds such as the common kingfisher and the Green-winged Teal can be seen at the Dazhuhu water reservation, situated around the water gate.

Besides these birds, fish, insects and wild vegetables are flourishing in the region as well. These are all natural resources of the Sun Moon Lake region. The Shao Clan is the earliest clan that lived in the Sun Moon Lake region. The Harvest Festival, Sowing Festival and their special handicraft fair every year, as well as their articles have helped to preserve the particular culture of the Sun Moon Lake region.
FoGuang Shan Buddha Museum佛光山
FoGuang Shan Buddha Memorial Center, founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, is a newly opened Buddhist site in Taiwan, which not only serves as a combined museum, art gallery and religious landmark, but also a diverse cultural, education and art center whose total number of visitors in the first year of its opening exceeded ten million, higher than that of the Louvre in 2012, and has continued to rise in successive years.

The Center also became the youngest museum to be recognized as a member of ICOM, receive ISO50001 certification, and listed on Tripadvisor as one of the top three tourist destinations in Taiwan within the first four years of its opening. Owing to more than just the stunning architectural complex and open space layout, a rich collection of permanent and temporary art exhibitions, live Buddhist and Chinese cultural performances, interfaith festivities, as well as social welfare events are among the contributing factors of the Center’s success. This paper aims to study the relationship between the modern approaches of Dharma propagation in Humanistic Buddhism and religious tourism in attempt to discuss the success of Buddha Memorial Center’s development as well as its future prospective in the dissemination of Buddhism.
Majia Township屏東瑪家鄉
Majia Township is the “MajiaZayaZaya“ of the West Paiwan Tribe. In the Paiwan language, it means ‘inclined slope’. After the recovery of Taiwan in 1945, local tribes were assigned a village to live in and the villages were renamed: MakaJhayajha was renamed Majia; Masyulide was renamed Beiye; Wakaba was renamed Liangshan; and KajhageiLangan was renamed Jiayi. Majia Township now includes Beiye Village, Liangshan Village, Jiayi Village, Paiwan Village, Majia Village, Sanhe Village, and others.

Majia Township has picturesque scenery and waterfalls. The most representative spots are the Aboriginal Culture Park and Liangshan Waterfall: The Jioufawan group of the Paiwan tribe are the original inhabitants of Majia Township and the town is alive with aboriginal culture.

The Aboriginal Culture Park covers about 83 hectares, with typical aboriginal buildings of nine tribes, crafts, and costumes. These, along with the lifestyles are the themes of the exhibition. The park features the customs and traditions of the tribes, and teaches about handicrafts as well aboriginal foods and folk activities. It provides a rich assortment of aboriginal culture for visitors.
Tropic of Cancer北回歸線
The Tropic of Cancer is located at 23.5 degrees north latitude. The Tropic of Cancer Landmark is at the 69 kilometer marker on Highway 11. Every year at noon during the summer solstice, the sun shines right into the slits on the Tropic of Cancer. At this time, tourists can experience the phenomenon of shadowlessness under the sun.
Shitiping石梯坪
Shitiping is a huge area of coastal terraces. Its landscapes include the developed sea terrain, wave-cut platforms, uplifted coral reefs, sea trenches and cliffs. The potholes, in particular, are one of Taiwan's Number one sites.Shitiping's coast is rich in coral reefs, tropical fish, intertidal zones and tide pools from potholes. A variety of seaweed, fish, shellfish and other marine life dwell here. Shitiping is a great place to observe intertidal ecology and an excellent place for diving.Shiti Level Ground has a well-equipped campground. Stay here and enjoy the sound of the waves on a starry night. It offers a wonderful experience.
Taroko National Park太魯閣國家公園
Taroko National Park, situated in the eastern part of the Taiwan and established on November 28, 1986, covers more than 92,000 hectares in the northern section of the Central Mountain Range. This park features high mountains and sheer gorges. Many of its peaks tower above 3,000m in elevation, with many natural wonders.

The spectacular Taroko Gorge and the scenic beauty of Liwu River can be conveniently viewed from the Central Cross-Island Highway. The varied mountain peaks, numerous waterfalls, diverse plant forms and animal life, together with the indigenous Taroko people, create the rich texture of this unique natural ecosystem.
Chiufen Old Street 九份老街
Located in New Taipei City (Taipei County), Chiufen village used to be the center of gold mining. This small village is located within hills, next to the mountains, and facing the ocean. Due to its special location, Chiufen village is well known for its foggy weather condition which creates a romantic atmosphere.

The name Chiufen comes from a legend where nine families used to live in this village. Before the development of Chiufen, there was a lack of transportation which made trips to the market inconvenient. Therefore, whenever one family goes grocery shopping at the market, they would be divided what they have bought into nine pieces for each of the families. “Chiufen” literally means “nine pieces” in Mandarin, and this is how the village name came from.

Today, Chiufen features an old street that is full of local snack vendors and special accessory stores. Various foods such as “Yu Yuan” (taro balls), fried meat balls, steamed taro cakes, and herbal rice cakes, are the Chiufen’s specialties. In addition, Chinese teahouses in this area are also very popular for both local and foreign tourists. Chiufen have beautiful sceneries so many tourist came to drink tea during night to appreciate the night view.
Taipei 101 shopping Mall台北101
Taipei 101 is the tallest building in Taiwan, with a mass of shops on the lower floors, incorporating many top brands under the LVMH group, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, etc. The fourth floor houses the Page One bookstore from Singapore, with the highest-roofed coffee house in Taipei and many fine restaurants.
National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall國父紀念館
To commemorate the national founding father Dr. Sun Yat-Sen’s unparalleled morality, revolutionary conducts and to excel Dr. Sun Yat-Sen's doctrine, the Republic government had in 1964 begun drafting the building of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, which not only served to provide a place of remembrance for all to emulate the national founding father, but also encompassed the functions of cultural and artistic education, leisurely recreation and academic research.
